seo PPK: The Open Web Goes Mobile 2013

Seo Master present to you: Last week I was privileged to host PPK (Peter-Paul Koch) for a Google tech talk entitled "The Open Web Goes Mobile". Most developers building web apps have benefited from PPK's browser compatibility research hosted on his well known site quirksmode.org. Now, fortunately, PPK is turning his attention to the world of mobile web devices. To no one's surprise, browser compatibility on mobile devices is even worse than it is on the desktop. Or as PPK puts it on his opening slide "Hell is other browsers". Check out his slides or watch the video here.

PPK starts by identifying the four main problems with getting web sites to work well on mobile clients: small memory, small display, flaky browsers, and flaky connections. Memory is an area for more research, especially benchmarking. PPK offers some suggestions for dealing with a small display, including using media queries in CSS (@media all and (max-width: 300px) {}) and offsetWidth in JavaScript.

Mobile browsers themselves are flaky when it comes to advanced CSS and JavaScript. But PPK finds that even basic stuff, such as font-style: italic, has to be verified. As a result of his testing, PPK categorizes mobile browsers into three levels of compatibility:
  • top level: Android WebKit, Safari, Opera Mobile
  • mid level: S60 WebKit, Blackberry, Opera Mini
  • bottom level: NetFront, IE Mobile
Obviously, this is not an exhaustive list of mobile clients. PPK also mentions OpenWeb, Nokia S40, Palm Blazer, Iris, Bolt, Skyfire, Obigo, Fennec, and Teashark. This is the challenge in developing for the mobile web - there are a large number of clients and they exhibit diverse compatibility behavior.

When it comes to flaky connections, PPK points out that your connection speed is affected by the activity of the people around you. It's unlikely that this is going to change any time soon, so it's important to reduce the size of your downloads as much as possible. The problem is that caching on mobile devices isn't always reliable.

The impact of flaky connections can be mitigated by saving your core files on the mobile device. W3C Widgets offers a solution for achieving this. They're local applications written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that run inside the mobile browser. Ajax is used to download what's required: data. An advantage of using W3C Widgets is that, if the specification gets wide adoption, widgets will run across multiple mobile devices, and companies won't have to build a custom application for each target device. Right now, W3C Widgets work in Vodafone and Nokia S60 phones and Opera/T-Mobile phones for Windows Mobile, so evangelism to other mobile devices is needed. But the possibility of sharing applications across phones is compelling, for both the user experience as well as reduced development costs for mobile app developers.

seo Who's @ Google I/O - spotlight on AJAX and Google Data APIs 2013

Seo Master present to you: There are over 60 Google APIs across a wide range of products and technologies. The AJAX APIs include Google Search, Language, Maps, FriendConnect, and Visualization APIs. The team recently launched v2 of the AJAX APIs Playground, an app designed to show interactive code samples for some of our coolest Javascript APIs. The Google Data APIs provide a simple standard protocol for reading and writing data on the web and are used by many products including YouTube, Calendar, Picasa Web Albums, and as of last week, Analytics.

Google I/O will feature many sessions covering the AJAX and Google Data APIs. Here are a few of the developers who'll be leading sessions and/or demoing at the Developer Sandbox:
  • Redfin
    Redfin is an online brokerage site for buying and selling homes. Redfin uses the Google Maps, Charts, and Feeds APIs. Redfin actively talks about the behind-the-scenes development decisions, which can be found at the Redfin Developer Blog. (For example, they blogged about why they switched to the Google Maps API) Sasha Aickin, Engineering Manager, will be speaking on a session called Performance Tips for Geo API Mashups.

  • Lonely Planet
    Lonely Planet is known by travelers for producing informed and honest travel advice. Lonely Planet uses the Google Maps Javascript API to power interactive maps on lonelyplanet.com, the Google Static Maps API on its cross-device mobile site, m.lonelyplanet.com, and OpenSocial, App Engine, and Android in products soon to be launched. Ken Hoetmer, Lonely Planet's neogeographer in residence, will be speaking on a session called Maps APIs & Mobile.

  • Adobe
    Introduced with Adobe Creative Suite 4, Adobe Community Help utilizes Google Custom Search (a product which also supports the AJAX APIs) to aggregate the most relevant help content from the broader community. By integrating search directly within the application workflow, users can find answers to their software questions no matter where those answers may be found. Currently, Adobe is exploring ways of expanding Custom Search to include code samples directly within Adobe development environments for products like Flash and Flex. (Read Adobe's blog post about Adobe Community Help)

  • LuckyCal
    LuckyCal is a calendaring application which utilizes several of the Google Data APIs to create a dynamic calendar experience. They authenticate using OAuth to retrieve data from the Calendar and Contacts Data APIs. Based on where you'll be, who you know and what you like, LuckyCal finds events that are relevant to you. LuckyCal has also created a Google Gadget and uses the Maps API (both for UI and for Geocoding) extensively.

  • Eye.fi
    The Eye-Fi Card stores photos & videos like a traditional memory card, and fits in most cameras. When you turn your camera on within range of a configured Wi-Fi network, it wirelessly transfers your photos & videos to either your computer or services like YouTube, Picasa Web Albums, etc via the YouTube and Picasa Web Albums Data APIs.

  • Vast Rank
    Vast Rank is a college ranking website that utilizes the Google Maps API in their interactive ranking map (where visitors see rankings based on what is in view on the map). With the Client Location API, Vast Rank’s personalization engine can weigh the visitor’s location into the criteria used to suggest interesting colleges to the visitor. Vast Rank creator Jon Kragh will be leading a session, Using AJAX APIs to Navigate User-Generated Content.

  • 280 North
    280 North's application, 280 Slides, enables users to easily create web-based presentations. With the AJAX Search API and Google Data APIs, 280 Slides builds in the ability to search Google for images and YouTube for videos and drag media directly into a presentation. 280 North is also the creator of Cappuccino, an open source JavaScript-based web development framework. Check out co-founder Ross Boucher's videos where he talks about 280 Slides' implementation.
Finally, a friendly reminder that early (discounted) registration for Google I/O ends this Friday, May 1. Visit code.google.com/io to sign up and learn more about sessions and demos that'll be in store this year.

seo New Google Web Elements released 2013

Seo Master present to you:
Today we've added four new Google Web Elements: Sidewiki, Checkout, Wave and Virtual Keyboard. These are all designed to help you quickly and easily integrate Google products into your website.

Sidewiki element
Google Sidewiki makes it easy for visitors of your website to share helpful information with each other. Unlike regular comments, all Sidewiki entries are ranked by usefulness so that the best ones are shown first. The element was built entirely on the Sidewiki API and can be customized in many ways to fit into your site. Sidewiki originally launched as a feature of Google Toolbar and as a Chrome extension - this element is our newest step in making Sidewiki more open and accessible across the web. If you'll be using the element on your site, let us know via @googlesidewiki on Twitter!

If you're looking for a way to add commenting to an otherwise static page, the Google Sidewiki element gives you an easy and simple way to collect and display comments about a page. One of the new and exciting features of the Sidewiki element is that it allows visitors to leave a comment even if they do not have Sidewiki or Google Toolbar installed. Like all Sidewiki entries, the comments in the element will be ranked to show the most useful items more prominently.

Checkout element
The Google Checkout element allows you to quickly and easily create an online store using a spreadsheet. Once you have a Google Checkout merchant account, you just have to add details for each item you're selling into a Google Spreadsheet, then use the wizard and copy/paste the code into your website. The element is compatible with Blogger, Google Sites, iGoogle, and personal websites where HTML can be modified, but doesn't require any programming skills or experience. In fact, you can get your first online store up and running in under five minutes.

Wave element
The Google Wave element enables you to quickly drop a wave -- a shared workspace -- onto your own website. The wave could be used for many different things, including: encouraging collaborative discussion among the visitors, or as a means of publishing content on the page. For deeper integrations of waves onto your own site, please check out the recently improved Wave Embed API. For more information on embedding waves, see the Google Wave Developer Blog post.

Virtual Keyboard element
Adding a virtual keyboard to your site just got easier with the Google Virtual Keyboard element. After choosing a keyboard layout, copy and paste the HTML into your page and voila, a virtual keyboard will be able to enter characters into any text input or text area on your page. If you've never heard a virtual keyboard, it's an on screen keyboard which translates the input from one keyboard layout to another and it allows users to type their own languages on foreign keyboards or by clicking the on screen display.

Google Web Elements are great for folks who don't have much time or experience. However, even for advanced developers, elements are a great starting point, as most are backed by an underlying API to give you even more control over the content or look and feel. Take a look at all of the elements at http://www.google.com/webelements and stop by our help forum if you have any questions.

seo Blogging for beginners : 4 basic steps 2013

Seo Master present to you:
The blogging world has high number of enthusiasts joining daily and the number of failures is also increasing in proportion. However, as a beginner, if you can keep some of the basics and key points in your mind, it will lead to a long blogging career of yours. Here are some of the points for beginners which will help you in going a long way. These points may not be for people who take it as a hobby.

  • Know your niche.  Define a particular topic that you are going to write about. It may be your passion, your interests, a topic that you love to debate upon, or something of your choice that won't bore you. You should have in your brain what you will write about on your blog. You should not start writing about 'body building' after writing some posts on technology. That's don't seem good. So, decide a particular topic that interests you. If you are passionate about something, then perhaps you are done with this point

  •  Be consistence. Write regularly if you want people to read your blog. Be consistence. There are 1000s of young bloggers emerging everyday and you have to keep competing with them too. Even if you are way ahead and remain standing there, you will soon be over-taken. People who have find your blog useful will come back to it. Give them something new or they will perhaps never return. Anything more than 2-3 posts per week is best. The number depends on how much you are already estabilished. If you have 10 articles so far, you need to write much more than someone who have 100.

  • Popularize it. Market it. The number of visitors increasing day by day will motivate you to do better. So, popularize your blog. Its not that you create a blog, and people will have a dream about it and they will visit it. Go on Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn. Start from your family members, friends, and their friends. You will see rising of your contacts list and the number of visitors. A blog's success is somehow counted by the traffic only. You have to tell the world about your blog. Atleast initially.

  • Keep learning. As you move along in blogging, you will encounter several new things such as SEO, Link building strategy, etc. Get familiar with them. Learn them. Whatever you will learn, it will help you someday. Trial and errors is the best practice for blogging. You try a thing, if you succeed then you go on with it. Else, you try something else.
 These points are the four basic point a beginner blogger should keep in mind. Most of the people will agree to these points. However, if you are innovative enough you may choose another path. People who think differently are usually the one who succeed. Its up to you.  However, if you are contradictory, do mention it in comments, I would love to have a discussion with you.

seo Google Developer Podcast Episode 15: Google App Engine 2013

Seo Master present to you:

We had the pleasure to talk to some of the Google App Engine team to discuss the recent launch that Dick uses the tagline as "Your apps, our servers". We get to chat with tech lead on the project Kevin Gibbs, product manager Pete Koomen, and Guido van Rossum. I don't think we need to introduce Guido!

The podcast starts out answering why Google App Engine was created, and why Python was chosen as the first language. We then hear about the work that goes into making a language hardened for the platform itself.

Of all of the APIs that we expose in the App Engine back-end, we feel that the Database API is probably the most foreign for the majority of developers. Many are used to the relational model for datastores, and our datastore is different. Kevin talks about these differences, and the ramifications that come with a schema-less store. We then delve into the practicalities of having libraries such as SQL Alchemy support GQL which is a functional subset of SQL.

What about lock-in? This was one of the big questions that came out of the community when we launched App Engine. You can see how open the team is to other solutions, and how they like seeing work such as AppDrop that shows how you can do this. The choice to make the SDK itself fully open source says a lot.

Guido discussed how the Python runtime is indeed the full language, but how some libraries are not there. He talks about the reasons behind the choices, which are mainly related to security. As time goes on more libraries that developers really need will make it into the system, often with equivalent implementations. Although a traditional file system doesn't make sense in the cloud, we could very well see a virtual file system implemented.

We go on to discuss a lot more, including:
  • What restrictions are there for serving your applications?
  • What Web frameworks are available?
  • Can you develop Web services as well as Web applications? How about gadget and widget?
  • What kind of traffic can be expect with the free accounts?
  • Can I run these applications on my domain, and integrate with Google Apps?
If you want to see more of the team and play with App Engine, come by a hackathon when it get to your neck of the woods, or hear more at Google I/O.

seo More ways to measure your website's performance with User Timings 2013

Seo Master present to you: By Satish Kambala and Mustafa M. Tikir, Google Analytics Team

Cross-posted from the Google Analytics Blog

As part of our mission to make the web faster, Google Analytics provides Site Speed reports to analyze your site’s page load times. To help you measure and diagnose the speed of your pages in a finer grain, we’re happy to extend the collection of Site Speed reports in Google Analytics with User Timings.

With User Timings, you can track and visualize user defined custom timings about websites. The report shows the execution speed or load time of any discrete hit, event, or user interaction that you want to track. This can include measuring how quickly specific images and/or resources load, how long it takes for your site to respond to specific button clicks, timings for AJAX actions before and after onLoad event, etc. User timings will not alter your pageview count, hence,  makes it the preferred method for tracking a variety of timings for actions in your site.

To collect User Timings data, you'll need to add JavaScript timing code to the interactions you want to track using the new _trackTiming API included in ga.js (version 5.2.6+) for reporting custom timings. This API allows you to track timings of visitor actions that don't correspond directly to pageviews (like Event Tracking).  User timings are defined using a set of Categories, Variables, and optional Labels for better organization. You can create various categories and track several timings for each of these categories. Please refer to the developers guide for more details about the _trackTiming API.

Here are some sample use cases for User Timings
  • To track timings for AJAX actions before and after onLoad event.
  • A site can have their own definition of "User Perceived Load Time", which can be recorded and tracked with user timings.  As an example, news websites can record time for showing the above fold content as their main metric instead of onLoad time.
  • Detailed performance measurement and optimization of sub components on a page, such as time to load all images, CSS or Javascript, download PDF files and time it takes to upload a file.
Want to check out User Timings Report in your account?

Go to the content section and click the User Timings report under Content section. There are three tabs within the User Timings report for you to review: Explorer, Performance, and Map Overlay. Each provides a slightly different view of user timings reported.

The Explorer tab on the User Timings report shows the following metrics by Timing Category, Timing Variable, or Timing Label (all of which you define in your timing code).
  • Avg. User Timing—the average amount of time (in seconds) it takes for the timed code to execute
  • User Timing Sample—the number of samples taken
The Explorer tab also provides controls that you can use to change the tabular data. For example, you can choose a secondary dimension—such as browser— to get an idea of how speed changes by browser.

To learn more about which timings are most common for user timings, switch to the Performance tab. This tab shows timing buckets, providing you with more insight into how speed can vary for user reported timings for selected category, variable and label combinations. You may switch to Performance tab at any point of navigation in the Explorer tab, such as after drilling down on a specific category and variable, to visualize distribution of user reported timings.  The bucket boundaries for histograms in Performance Tab are chosen to be flexible so that users can analyze data at low values ranging from 10 milliseconds granularity to 1 minute granularity with addition of sub-bucketing for further analysis.

The Map Overlay tab provides a view of your site speed experienced by users in different geographical regions (cities, countries, continents).

Satish Kambala and Mustafa M. Tikir are on the Google Analytics Team.

seo DoFollow และ NoFollow คืออะไร ? 2013

Seo Master present to you:
DoFollow <a href=”http://yourwebsitename”>yourlinkname</a>
NoFollow <a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://yourwebsitename”>yourlinkname</a>2013, By: Seo Master

seo Google Location Services now in Mozilla Firefox 2013

Seo Master present to you: With recent launches like Google Latitude and Google Toolbar with My Location, it's clear we think location-based services are useful and fun! We also want developers everywhere to be able to use location to build cool new features and applications.

I'm pleased to announce that Google's Location Service (the same service which powers the My Location feature in many Google products), is now the default location provider in Mozilla Firefox 3.5 beta 4. This means that developers can, with users' permission, gain access to their approximate location without requiring any additional plug-ins or setting configurations. It just works!

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 beta 4 uses the W3C geolocation API, a standard being adopted by many major browsers, so you won't have to branch code in the future.

For web developers, using geolocation services in Firefox is easy! Here's a simple example to get you started:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">

function displayLocation(loc) {
var locDiv = document.getElementById("locationDiv");
locDiv.innerHTML = "lat: " + loc.coords.latitude + ", lon:" + loc.coords.longitude;
}

function getLocation() {
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(displayLocation);
}

</script>
</head>

<body>
<a href="#" onClick="getLocation()">Click here to display location</a><br>
<div id="locationDiv"></div>
</body>
</html>
When your site calls getCurrentPosition, a drop down will ask the user permission to get his or her location. Upon acceptance of the request, the callback function you specify will run with the machine's approximate location contained in the loc parameter. Here's a screenshot of the permission dropdown:

We hope you find the new and useful ways to use the new geolocation capabilities of Firefox!

seo What Do I Need To Consider When Buying A Phone For Kids? 2013

Seo Master present to you:

It's not uncommon nowadays to see even young children with a cell phone. And with pink phones, Hello Kitty phones and even specific mobile phone plans for kids it seems like children are the target of a lot of marketing too. But should you buy a phone for your child? A recent report stated that three quarters of UK ten year olds owned a mobile phone, so obviously many people think it is appropriate for young kids to own a phone. If you're trying to decide whether or not to get a cell phone for your kid, there are a few things that you need to take into account...

It's Not as Bad as You Think...

Firstly, don't be close minded about the idea. Just because your kid is pestering you for the hundredth time doesn't necessarily mean that getting a phone is a bad idea. There are a lot of advantages. For example, your child will be able to get hold of you any time he or she needs you, and vice versa. They miss the school bus? No problem. When it comes to safety and security having a phone may be a better idea than you think it is. As long as mobile phone use is controlled properly, then there's no reason that having a phone should be anything other than a benefit to you and you kid.

Be Careful with Financing...

Face it, there's a pretty high chance that your kid is going to lose, break, or drop his phone (probably down the toilet). For this reason, it's not only inadvisable that you buy an expensive device, but also think about financing. When you sign up for a phone plan and get a phone included in the contract you are paying for that phone month by month. You kid loses the phone after three months, guess what? You still have to keep paying for it until the end of your contract. No matter what cool hand set your kid might have his eye on, going for something robust and cheap but functional is your best bet.

Make Sure it's Protected...

And that means protected in every way, shape and form. There's no reason to give younger kids access to the internet, and even older ones should have some form of child lock to prevent them accessing unsuitable material. Text messages should be checked regularly to make sure that you always know what's going on. And watch out for the money.

In general, a pay as you go phone is a better idea, particularly for younger kids, since it's far easier to control spending on PAYG. Contract phones can rapidly become billing nightmares with kids, since they're frequently irresponsible about staying on top of calling minute and text message limits. Finally, you might want to consider a special kids contract for the phone.

Many mobile service operators offer special features for phones that will belong to a child, including the ability to limit service to certain hours of the day, meaning that your kid can't use the phone in school or late at night. Having a kid contract might be an easy way of controlling your child's phone habits...

seo Tech Talks on the Guts of Chromium 2013

Seo Master present to you: As a developer, one of the coolest things about working on the Google Chrome web browser is that there's very little difference between being a Googler working on it and being an external contributor. Most development happens via public wikis, mailing lists, bugs, and code under the Chromium project. Chomium's openness is something we take a lot of pride in.

Last Wednesday 5 of Chromium's top contributors gave tech talks on a wide range of very technical topics. Given our commitment to openness, it shouldn't surprise you that we went to great lengths to film them. None of us had filmed a tech talk before, but through a great team effort we were able to capture some really great presentations. If you're interested in the guts of Chromium's code base, I encourage you to check them out:

seo Fridaygram 2013

Seo Master present to you:
By Scott Knaster, Google Code Blog Editor

The final launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour is now scheduled for early next week. This will be the next-to-last mission planned for the US Space Shuttle program. As a young nerd, I loved to watch the progress of the space program. Almost as amazing as the missions themselves was the fact that I could see it all live on television, even from hundreds of thousands of miles away.

Endeavour is going to do much better than that. You can go to www.youtube.com/pbsnewshour and submit video questions for the crew of Endeavour. The crew will select some of the questions and answer them live on YouTube. For more details, see the Official Google Blog.

Much closer to home, and completely unrelated, Google Chrome got a pretty slick new feature in the stable release this week. You can now use voice input with Google Translate in Chrome. In many languages, you can even click Listen to hear the translation. This feature uses the HTML speech input API. Now I can practice those languages I never quite mastered on my last vacation.

For more on what you can develop with HTML5 and other open web technologies, see the Chrome Experiments site.

Finally, if you want to know why this Space Shuttle mission includes squids, read this page.

//]]>
</script>

Step 6. Finally, look for this line:

<div class='column-right-inner'>

Or if you use an old template of Blogger, search this line:

<div id='sidebar-wrapper'>

Step 7. Paste below one of these two lines, this code:

<div class='tabview'>
<b:section class='tabviewtab' id='Tab1' maxwidgets='1'/>
<b:section class='tabviewtab' id='Tab2' maxwidgets='1'/>
<b:section class='tabviewtab' id='Tab3' maxwidgets='1'/>
</div>

Step 8. Save changes, and go to Layout and there you will see the new areas to add gadgets.

You just have to click on Add a Gadget to add the gadget to the tab that corresponds, or drag a gadget you already have to that section.

If you want to add more tabs, then just add before the last </div> a line like this:

<b:section class='tabviewtab' id='Tab4' maxwidgets='1'/>

Note that each line you add should have a different ID, for example Tab5, Tab6, etc..

You can add multiple tabs, just repeat the last step and likewise remember to change the name of the IDs.

Remember that if your sidebar is too narrow, then you should not put a lot of tabs, or tab titles that are very long.

You should also note that this gadget does not speed up the loading speed of the blog, is only to group gadgets into one, even, depending on the blog-may take a while to load the tabview.2013, By: Seo Master
