I had the pleasure of helping out with the KDE 4.0 Release Event this past weekend. With attendees of all ages and backgrounds from around the world, the event was a huge success. In addition to a great coming out party for KDE 4.0, it was also the venue in which Trolltech announced it would adopt GPL 3 for Qt.

Thursday was 'un-conference' style with attendees organizing impromptu BOFs and breakout sessions. However, a lot of people spent a good portion of the day discovering who else was there, as many of the KDE developers and community members were meeting each other for the first time.

Friday was the big day with around 150 people and 2 dragons in attendance. Aaron Seigo's keynote was well received by KDE release parties going on simultaneously around the world, thanks to the video streaming magic of Franz Keferböck. Many other speakers graced the podium after Aaron, including the two Release Event Contest winners, Kyle Cunningham and Aron Stansvik. The day finished with cocktails and a special vintage provided by Celeste.

Things wrapped up on Saturday with a few more BOFs. Since we had all that A/V goodness going unused, many attendees took it upon themselves to give a presentation or two. The most popular one was the Amarok 2 talk given by Jeff Mitchell and Leo Franchi (both worked on Amarok as Google Summer of Code students).

All in all, everyone seemed to have a great time. Many thanks go to my co-conspirators Tiffany and Cat from the Open Source Team, and to Wade, Franz, Sebas, Troy and Jeff of KDE for their efforts in putting the event together. I hear that a similar event is in the works for next year. Here's hoping Aaron Seigo does karaoke at that one too.

Seo Master present to you: এইতো মাত্র কিছুদিন আগে কিনে ফেললাম বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশের বহুল আলোচিত হ্যান্ডসেট ওয়ালটন প্রিমো। কেনার পর থেকেই চেস্টা করে যাচ্ছি এটি রুট করার। কিন্তু ৬/৭ টা পদ্ধতি অ্যাপ্লাই করার পরেও সফল হতে না পেরে একরকম হতাসই হয়ে পরেছিলাম। কিন্তু আজ অবশেষে সফল হলাম, সেই সাথে নিজের মনে অনেক্ষন হাসলাম:) কারণ এটি রুট করা খুবই সোজা!! আমি শুধু শুধু এতদিন অনেক কঠিন পদ্ধতি অ্যাপ্লাই করেছি। পুরোপুরি সময় নস্ট। তবে অবশেষে কাজ হয়েছে, এতেই আমি খুশী



যাই হোক, কাজের কথায় আসি- আশা করি রুট করার সুবিধা/অসুবিধা সবাই জানেন। তবে আগেই বলে নেই- রুট করলে আপনি হ্যান্ডসেটের ওয়ারেন্টি হারাবেন! তবে আমি রুট করার সাথে সাথে আন-রুট করার পদ্ধতিও দেখাব। এছাড়া আপনি স্টক-রম ইন্সটল করে সেট একদম আগের মত করে ফেলতে পারবেন। ফলে ওয়ারেন্টি নিয়ে কোন সমস্যা হবার কথা না। তবুও যা করার নিজ দায়িত্তে করবেন। কোথাও ভুল করে ফোন ব্রিক করে ফেললে অথবা ওয়ারেন্টি হারালে আমি দায়ী থাকব না। আমার সাথে একমত হলে আসুন শুরু করি-

**রুট করার আগে করণীয়**

• **রুট করার আগে প্রথম এবং অবশ্যপালনীয় যে কাজটি করবেন সেটি হল- আপনার হ্যান্ডসেটের অফিশিয়াল রমের ব্যকাপ নেয়া, যাকে আমরা স্টক রম বলি। এতে কোন সমস্যা হলে রম রিস্টোর করে আগের অবস্থায় ফিরে যেতে পারবেন। ওয়ালটন প্রিমোর রম ব্যাকাপ রাখার পদ্ধতি জানতে আমার এই টিউনটি দেখতে পারেন।

• ** রুট করতে হলে আপনার হ্যান্ডসেটে CWM Recovery ইন্সটল করা থাকতে হবে। সেটিও এখানে পাবেন।

- এবার আসি Rooting প্রক্রিয়ায় -

• ** এখান থেকে আমার দেয়া ফাইলটি ডাউনলোড করে যেকোন ফোল্ডারে এক্সট্রাক্ট করুন।

• ** ভিতরে কয়েকটি ফাইল পাবেন। সেগুলোর মধ্যে SU-Busybox-Installer.zip এবং SU-Uninstaller.zip এই ফাইল দুটি কপি করে আপনার ওয়ালটন সেটের এসডি কার্ডে কপি করুন। এখানে বলে রাখা ভাল- ফাইলদুটি সরাসরি এসডিকার্ডের রুটে কপি করবেন। এসডি কার্ডের ভিতরের কোন ফোল্ডারে নয়।

• ** ফাইল ট্রান্সফার করা হয়ে গেলে আপনার হ্যান্ডসেটটি বন্ধ করুন।

• ** এবার আমাদের রিকভারি স্ক্রীনে ঢুকতে হবে। এজন্য হ্যন্ডসেটের ভলিউম-আপ বাটন এবং পাওয়ার বাটন একসাথে চেপে ধরে রাখুন- যতক্ষন পর্যন্ত না লাল স্ক্রীন আসে। লাল স্ক্রীন আসার সাথে সাথে বাটনগুলো ছেড়ে দিন। কয়েকসেকেন্ড পর নিচের মত CWM রিকভারি স্ক্রীন পাবেন।

• ** তবে যারা আমার মত সন্দেহপ্রবণ, তারা রুট হল কিনা যাচাই করার জন্য সেট চালু করুন এবং দেখুন নিচের মত SuperUser নামে কোন অ্যাপ্লিকেশন ইন্সটল হয়েছে কিনা। যদি হয়ে থাকে, তাহলে আপনার সেট রুট হয়ে গেছে।

হুমম....... সবাই যাতে বুঝতে পারে, সেজন্য আমি বিস্তারিত বর্ণনাসহ স্ক্রীনশটের ব্যবহার বেশী করেছি। তাই টিউনের সাইজ অনেক বড় হয়ে গেছে। তবে আমি শিউর, একবার নিজে ট্রাই করলে আপনাদের কাছে সব ডালভাত মনে হবে

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), the workhorse of the Internet, is designed to deliver all the Web’s content and operate over a huge range of network types. To deliver content effectively, Web browsers typically open several dozen parallel TCP connections ahead of making actual requests. This strategy overcomes inherent TCP limitations but results in high latency in many situations and is not scalable.

Our research shows that the key to reducing latency is saving round trips. We’re experimenting with several improvements to TCP. Here’s a summary of some of our recommendations to make TCP faster:

1. Increase TCP initial congestion window to 10 (IW10). The amount of data sent at the beginning of a TCP connection is currently 3 packets, implying 3 round trips (RTT) to deliver a tiny 15KB-sized content. Our experiments indicate that IW10 reduces the network latency of Web transfers by over 10%.

2. Reduce the initial timeout from 3 seconds to 1 second. An RTT of 3 seconds was appropriate a couple of decades ago, but today’s Internet requires a much smaller timeout. Our rationale for this change is well documented here.

3. Use TCP Fast Open (TFO). For 33% of all HTTP requests, the browser needs to first spend one RTT to establish a TCP connection with the remote peer. Most HTTP responses fit in the initial TCP congestion window of 10 packets, doubling response time. TFO removes this overhead by including the HTTP request in the initial TCP SYN packet. We’ve demonstrated TFO reducing Page Load time by 10% on average, and over 40% in many situations. Our research paper and internet-draft address concerns such as dropped packets and DOS attacks when using TFO.

4. Use Proportional Rate Reduction for TCP (PRR). Packet losses indicate the network is in disorder or is congested. PRR, a new loss recovery algorithm, retransmits smoothly to recover losses during network congestion. The algorithm is faster than the current mechanism by adjusting the transmission rate according to the degree of losses. PRR is now part of the Linux kernel and is in the process of becoming part of the TCP standard.

In addition, we are developing algorithms to recover faster on noisy mobile networks, as well as a guaranteed 2-RTT delivery during startup. All our work on TCP is open-source and publicly available. We disseminate our innovations through the Linux kernel, IETF standards proposals, and research publications. Our goal is to partner with industry and academia to improve TCP for the whole Internet. In short, yes, they do work but there is a lot that goes into a link wheel to make it give you better rankings. Many people believe that if they put together a link wheel from 5 or more sites they are going to explode through the search engines to page 1. It doesn't really work like that. Link wheels take time and preparation, but they can help you reach your goals. Here are link wheel tips for your link building campaigns.

1. Use High PR Sites

This one isn't really a secret, but it's more for reiteration. If you're going to construct a link wheel, use high PR sites. Squidoo, Hubpages, Yahoo Voices, Weebly, Blogger and Wordpress should be the staples in your arsenal.

All of these sites will rocket to the top of the search engines if you try to target low competition, highly search keywords in your content. There are a ton of other sites that you can use, but these are by far my favorite. You don't have to go crazy with your wheels. Using these sites alone will give you the results you want.

2. Link Wheels Aren't Just For Links


When you're constructing your link wheels, make sure that you are also doing a content wheel. For instance, let's say that your first article is on "acne cures." You put an article on Squidoo for acne cures and then link to Hubpages for a write-up on "acne products." When you're doing link wheels it's best to use contexual links within your submissions so that you can flow into the next site on your wheel.

Content is king, but it's not just for search engines. Link wheels are primarily 1st tier links so they are going to get some pretty heavy traffic. Think about actual people reading these when you're doing your link wheels and you will get much better results.

The Best Spinner is by far the easiest and most effective tool for creating link wheels that are readable. You want to be helpful to your audience and you can't do that if your articles are a bunch of gibberish.

3. Monetize Your Link Wheels

One of the biggest problems that I see when people are constructing link wheels is that they are worried about the linking and the content. If these are going to be your 1st tier links, why wouldn't you monetize them? Backlinking is about building the juice from each tier. This means that you're 1st tier is going to get traffic. Up your income by monetizing your link wheels with ads, affiliate links, Amazon and eBay products. Don't miss out on opportunities to get some more cash!

4. BacklinkingYour Wheel

When I'm building a link wheel I like to link wheel each "spoke" with an SENuke blast. This is one of the most effective ways of not only getting your wheel indexed, but putting high PR sites linking back to each of your spokes. If you have read my site then you know that I use Magic Submitter for my 1st tier links. This cuts down on the amount time needed to construct quality link wheels and I have not found a better product for getting 1st tier links ranked quickly.

The best thing about Magic Submitter is that I can export all of my 1st tier links, load them into SENuke and link wheel my link wheels within a couple of hours. You don't have to do this with SENuke, but it's much easier then doing it by hand. If you want to do it by hand, make sure that you are putting at least 5-10 backlinks to each spoke on your wheels.2013, By: Seo Master

Seo Master present to you: Scientists with NASA's planet-hunting Kepler spacecraft have revamped the mission's online archive of alien worlds, opening up the database for the entire world to see. Researchers are now posting all exoplanet sightings by the Kepler observatory into a single, comprehensive website called the NASA Exoplanet Archive. Instead of going through the long planet confirmation process before making data publicly available, since December of last year, scientists have started shoveling out all the data Kepler collects into a comprehensive list. "When we make that list, right away it goes to the archive," Kepler mission team member Steve Howell told SPACE.com during the 221st American Astronomical Society meeting in Long Beach, Calif., this month. "So the day we know about the list, the archive knows about the list. And then everybody, including us, can work on that list. But that list is dynamic so if we, or a community person, makes an observation and says, 'Hey, I looked at this planet candidate but it's really an eclipsing binary,' then that entry in the archive will be changed." The archive has information about the size, orbital period and other metrics of any possible planet discovered and investigated by Kepler. "It's all in real time," Howell said. "The sausage-making process is exposed." Before the new archive was debuted, astronomers were already doing creative work with the data. One created a visually stunning video of every known Kepler planet candidate — 2,299 unconfirmed exoplanets at the time — orbiting one central point. The Kepler team’s new "open" attitude toward data release is giving everybody, not just members of the scientific community, a chance to do some hands-on scientific research by building their own experiments, Howell said. A group of high school students has already taken data from groups of planets observed by Kepler and mapped them against a map of known stars looking for a pattern. Howell doesn’t think they'll see much, but he's glad that they have the opportunity to get creative. "The entire world can help us with this Kepler data," Howell said. "I don't see any downside." Planet Hunters, a collective of amateur astronomers, recently found 42 new alien planets using Kepler data that was publicly available prior to the launch of the new archive system. It would be difficult for Kepler scientists to get their jobs done without the help of amateur astronomers around the globe, mission researchers said. By making the exoplanet archive more accessible, it could mean that more planets are found and confirmed in shorter amounts of time than ever before. More people sifting through the wealth of data collected by Kepler means that scientists have a better chance of finding even more planets circling distant stars, Howell added. Since its launch in 2009, NASA's Kepler spacecraft has flagged more than 2,300 objects as possible alien worlds. Although only about 100 have been confirmed, scientists expect that at least 80% could be certifiable exoplanets. Currently, Kepler has entered a "safe mode" after researchers spotted an issue with one of the spacecraft's three reaction wheels that are responsible for orienting the telescope.
