A Google Webmaster Help thread has Google's John Mueller responding to some complex robots.txt questions.
In that, he strongly recommends that when you do set up a robots.txt file, make sure you keep it very simple. John said:
When possible, I'd really recommend keeping the robots.txt file as simple as possible, so that you don't have trouble with maintenance and that it's really only disallowing resources that are problematic when crawled (or when its content is indexed).
Heck, John even has recommended you remove the robots.txt file completely if it is not needed but always make sure to keep it under 500KB if you do have to go more complex.

Personally, I am all for not using robots.txt files when possible.

Earlier this week, we announced the recipients of this year’s grants, which will be the fifth year of the program (and you can see a list of previous years’ programs here). Computer science education isn’t just for university students any more.
Education leads to the scientific method, which is how researchers discovered that mysterious circles in the Namib Desert are probably not fairy circles or the work of an underground dragon, but are actually caused by termites in the sand. Norbert Jürgens of the University of Hamburg learned that sand termites eat the roots of grasses, creating the circles in the sand. That’s not nearly as cool as an underground dragon, but it seems more plausible.
Finally, you probably remember that astonishing meteor that lit up the sky over Russia last month, and you might have seen some of the many videos that recorded the event. So did Swedish blogger Stefan Geens, who figured out that he could learn more about the meteor from the videos in non-obvious ways. Geens used a video showing shadows cast by the meteor, along with Google Earth and Photoshop, to roughly calculate the meteor’s trajectory and landing place. From there, scientists figured out more about the meteor, including its size, track, and point of explosion. So this weekend, if you get inspired, you too can use YouTube to figure out something new.
Yes, meteor videos and sand termites are just part of the usual fun here on Fridaygram, where we eschew our usual developer fare and present just cool stuff instead, even if it doesn’t involve coding.

Using this feature, the same web page is automatically optimized by flattening the imported CSS files into their parent. This reduces the number of HTTP requests, and more importantly, the number of serial round trips. In this case, the small background image also got inlined into the combined CSS file, reducing the serial round-trip count by 2:

- Choose a wide-domain niche. It is said that "blog on what you love". But that don't mean you select a topic on which you can write no more than few hundred lines only. Choose a more wide-domain topic. A topic that can be more generalized and can be written of. There may be more challenges in such niche. Who cares, beat them all.
- Read what you write for. Reading is the best thing you can do on web. Read more and more about the niche you writing for. If you have huge knowledge in your brain about your topic, you will never run out of contents. Internet is already full of what you are going to write. There is no bad in reading what others have written. Read them, understand them, and make your content.
- Maintain multiple niche. Some webmasters don't agree with this since it requires more time. But it may be a good idea to have 2-3 different topics to write for. Maintaining more than one blog will ensure you have more things to write. However, it may result in more time wastage since you have to market separately for all of them. Lets understand this with an example. You maintain a blog you can write 50 articles for that. Maintaining two at a time will ensure 100 articles. More contents means more traffic, and more earnings.
- Improve your group. If you are done with a topic, ask your friends to contribute. There is no problem in partnership. More people means more ideas and more contents.
What not to do even if you are running out contents.
- Don't repeat anything. No one is interested in reading the same novel twice. Same is the case with your blog. If you have no more new ideas for your blog, that don't mean you start re-posting the same content again and again. Even Google will penalize you for repeated contents.
- Don't copy paste from others. People have used up their time writing for their blogs. Don't copy paste. You may even have to face legal issues under copyright violation. Its your blog. Write yourself. I will never allow someone's content on my personal blog. Write yourself.

Last November, we launched the OAuth 2.0 Playground, a tool enabling you to easily experiment with the OAuth 2.0 protocol and APIs that use the protocol.
Since then, we've continued adding new features to improve the developer experience and increase the versatility of the tool.
Below is a list of features that we added since the initial release of the OAuth 2.0 playground.
Support for the OAuth 2.0 Client-side flow
You can now use the playground to experiment with the OAuth 2.0 Client-side flow by simply changing a setting in the OAuth 2.0 configuration dialog. Once set, every subsequent authorization request is performed using the client-side flow, and the playground’s interface and logic adapt accordingly.
Support for newer OAuth 2.0 drafts
We have added a setting to change the location of the access token in authorized requests to the APIs. We added support for the authorization header with a

You can now easily display all the operations that are available using your current access token. After clicking the Find available Request URIs button, the operations along with their associated HTTP Methods and URIs are displayed on the right-hand side. This should help you quickly set up your request to the Google APIs without needing to search through the online documentation.
