Seo Master present to you: Post by Peter Deng, Developer Team

It wasn't exactly our New Year's resolution, but we've done it anyway: reorganized parts of the Google Code site to make it easier to navigate. The AJAX Search API homepage has a new look and feel; check out the new example pages. If you're not yet an expert on the API, start with our code samples to learn more, or use our wizards to add AJAX search to your page without writing any code.

The Google Data API pages also got a facelift. In addition to new documentation for the Blogger, Calendar, Code Search and Spreadsheets data APIs, we've added example projects for each product. Let us know what you've built, and we may just feature your project.

We hope you will find this new organization helpful. Looking forward to seeing some great apps in 2007!2013, By: Seo Master
Seo Master present to you:

Chandra Patni is an engineer at IGN who saw a good way to develop using OpenSocial. Some hacking later, and he ended up with happyhour, an open source OpenSocial container powered by Google Gears.

Brad Neuberg and myself got together with Chandra to discuss the project.

In the conversation below you will hear about:
  • How happyhour increases developer productivity when building OpenSocial components
  • How designers have been able to work with his OpenSocial applications with happyhour
  • How happyhour differs from another open source container, Apache Shindig
  • His experience, and lessons learned using Gears
  • How he added support for ISO dates for Gears using SQLite

There is room for potential collaboration with Apache Shindig too. The projects can share the same data format, or happyhour could even hook into Apache Shindig in some way.

If you would like to make changes on the fly as you develop your OpenSocial applications, then give happyhour a look. Want to see a few more details about the code? Read more over at the Gears blog.

2011 was a busy year for the Google Africa team. The g|Day developer and business conference visited Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Angola in 2011, expanding from 5 countries in 2010 and from 2 in 2009. Over the year, business professionals, entrepreneurs, and marketers have explored innovative technologies to get online and to serve their business needs. Developers and webmasters have had an in-depth look at Android, Chrome, App Engine, Maps, Webmaster Tools, and more.

While we are excited about all the activity growing in the local communities, we are always looking for opportunities to engage with new communities of developers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs who are as passionate about technology as we are. Therefore, we are excited to kick off the 2012 G-Day roadshow with G-Tanzania and G-Ethiopia.

G-Tanzania will be held on February 2nd and 3rd at Mlimani City Conference Center in Dar es Salaam, followed by G-Ethiopia on February 7th and 8th at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Addis Ababa.

Registration is now open for these free events. Space is limited so be sure to register as soon as possible for G-Tanzania and G-Ethiopia to improve the chances of your application being accepted. We look forward to seeing you soon!
