Meta Robots Tags Meta Robots All Robots.txt Robots META tag
We can control the search engines spiders with the help of robots.txt, and certain pages should not be indexed and not be followed by search engine robots. The Robots META tag, placed in the HTML <HEAD> section of a page, can specify either or both of these actions.
The default values are now assumed to be INDEX, FOLLOW, ARCHIVE, ODP, SNIPPET and YDIR.
Examples
<HEAD>
<title>SEO Robots Meta Tag </title>
<META name="robots" content="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW" />

Meta Robots Tags, About Robots.txt and Search Indexing Robots
EntryMeaning
User-agent: *
Disallow:
Because nothing is disallowed, everything is allowed for every robot.
User-agent: mybot
Disallow: /
mybot robot may not index anything, because the root path (/) is disallowed.
User-agent: *
Allow: /
For all user agents, allow.
User-agent: BadBotAllow: /About/robot-policy.htmlDisallow: /
The BadBot robot can see the robot policy document, but nothing else. All other user-agents are by default allowed to see everything. This only protects a site if "BadBot" follows the directives in robots.txt
User-agent: *Disallow: /cgi-bin/
Disallow: /tmp/
Disallow: /private
In this example, all robots can visit the whole site, with the exception of the two directories mentioned and any path that starts with private at the host root directory, including items in privatedir/mystuff and the file privateer.html
User-agent: BadBot
Disallow: /

User-agent: *
Disallow: /*/private/*
The blank line indicates a new "record" - a new user agent command. All other robots can see everything except any subdirectory named "private" (using the wildcard character)
User-agent: WeirdBotDisallow: /links/listing.htmlDisallow: /tmp/
Disallow: /private/

User-agent: *
Allow: /
Disallow: /temp*
Alllow: *temperature*

Disallow: /private/
This keeps the WeirdBot from visiting the listing page in the links directory, the tmp directory and the private directory.
Allother robots can see everything except the temp directories or files, but should crawl files and directories named "temperature", and shouldnot crawl private directories. Note that the robots will use thelongest matching string, so temps and temporary will match the Disallow, while temperatures will match the Allow.
Bad Examples - Common Wrong Entries
use one of the robots.txt checkers to see if your file is malformed
User-agent: googlebot
Disallow /
NO! This entry is missing the colon after the disallow.
User-agent: sidewiner
Disallow: /tmp/
NO! Robots will ignore misspelled User Agent names (it should be "sidewinder"). Check your server logs for User Agent name and the listings of User Agent names.
User-agent: MSNbot
Disallow: /PRIVATE
WARNING! Many robots and webservers are case-sensitive. So this path will not match any root-level folders named private or Private.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /tmp/
User-agent: Weirdbot
Disallow: /links/listing.html
Disallow: /tmp/
Robots generally read from top to bottom and stop when they reach something that applies to them. So Weirdbot would probably stop at the first record, *.
Ifthere's a specific User Agent, robots don't check the * (all useragents) block, so any general directives should be repeated in thespecial blocks.

Google Webmaster Guidelines, Webmaster Guidelines Tips, Google Guidelines for webmastersGoogle Webmaster Guidelines

Google Webmaster guidelines will help Google to find, to index, and to rank your site. Before Creating a new website, my strongly suggestion you to pay very close attention to the "Quality Guidelines," If you are not paying attention or not following the Google guidelines then, that may lead to a site being panelized and removed entirely from the Google index. If once website has been penalized then it may take longer time to show up in search results on Google.com or on any of Google's partner sites.
When you website is ready then follows the below given points:

Design and content guidelines:
  • Design a website with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page of website should be reachable from at least one static text link.
  • Create a site map page, in which place all important pages of your website. If the site map is larger than 100 links, then break the site map into separate pages.
  • Create a SEO friendly, useful, unique and content rich site.
  • Before creating a webpage, just think about the topic or keywords from which users would type to find your pages.
  • Give more important to text instead of images to display names, content, or links.
  • Write your own and unique Title for the webpage and use alt Tag.
  • Check Before uploading your webpage’s, is there any broken links?
  • If you are creating the webpage’s in dynamic url (i.e., the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that, every search engine spider crawls are unable to index the dynamic pages as well as static pages. So, it is better to keep the parameters short and the number of them few.
  • Use less than 100 links on a given page.
Technical guidelines:
  • Most search engine spiders see your site much as Lynx would.
  • Avoid using JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash because search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site.
  • Allow search bots to crawl your sites without session IDs or arguments.
  • Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allows your web server to tell Google whether your content has changed since we last crawled your site.
  • Use of the robots.txt file on your web server.
  • Test your web site in different browsers.
Quality guidelines:
In this Google quality guideline we will discuss about the most common forms and behavior. Webmasters who spend their energies to provide a better user experience and enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.
If can to know that another website is abusing Google's quality guidelines, please report that site at
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport.
Quality guidelines - Basic principles:
  • Create a webpage’s for users, not for search engines. Don't Use the cloaking technique.
  • Don’t try to manipulate the search results.
  • Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank.
  • Don't participate in programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service.
Quality guidelines - specific guidelines:
  • Avoid hidden text or hidden links.
  • Don’t use cloaking technique or sneaky redirects.
  • Don't send automated queries to Google.
  • Don't load pages with irrelevant keywords.
  • Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
  • Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines.
  • If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.
